I have not had much time to work with it, but enjoying it greatly.
This past weekend I went to Eeyore's Birthday Party, a public party held every year in a park near the University of Texas. There are thousands of people of all types. The theme of the party could be described as "weird is good." This year unfortunately while there was a huge turnout, there were a lot fewer people in costume. Still it was great fun.
Shooting people in a crowd is definitely a challenge. It was a fun party, and a fun learning experience on the camera and interacting with people in a group situation. Some people shun a camera pointed their way, some ignore you, and others are ready to put on a performance. A simple "May I?" and "Thank you" (mouthed rather than vocal with the noise of a drum circle drowning you out) goes a long way towards a good reception and good photo.
